Art students & Movin Art

20 Sculpture students from the Sint-Lucas campus of the University of Science and Art in Ghent will swap their studios for a week for the Apollo Arthotel in Bruges. During the project week they create an employment in the spaces of the hotel. All public spaces of the hotel can be used by the artists: from the fitness room till the elevator, the bar, the lobby, the hallways, … .

The workshops are guided by the artists PhilipVan Isacker, Hans De Pelsmacker and Roel Kerkhof. They have a contemporary vision on sculpture where the emphasis lies on the creation of the reality; not by an image or an illusion of reality, but by making the reality themselves. The students use their own mental world as an inspiration source for an homemade object, moving pictures, photograph, a sound installation,… with which they try to penetrate into the essence of reality.

Both the students of the three bachelor years and the student of the master year cooperate in the exhibition in the ArtHotel. They do that under accompaniment of their three professors and art-coordinator of the Apollo ArtHotel. Everyone is welcome during the project week to see the artists at work. Visitors can come admire the creations also later during the exhibition itself. “Apollo Arthotel invites Sint-Lucas Ghent” becomes an edition full artistic experimenting, an ideal project for Apollo Arthotel as a new platform for young artists.
