Holiday Inn IJmuiden taken over by Apollo Hotels & Resorts

IJmuiden, 22nd of June 2009 – Conference & Leisure hotel Holiday Inn IJmuiden Seaport Beach is to integrate with the Apollo Hotels & Resorts by the 1st January 2010 at the latest. This acquisition will serve to consolidate the group’s position in the Greater Amsterdam region.

“It’s exactly ten years ago to the month that I commenced with the pre-opening of this gem on the North Sea coastline; it’s fantastic to once again be in charge of the hotel but this time working for my current employer!”, declares Alexander Kluit, director of the Amsterdam Cluster of Apollo Hotels & Resorts. Today he signed the management contract which will bind the group to the hotel for the next 25 years.

General Manager Gerlof Funke bijgenaamd Küpper of Seaport Beach Resort BV – is equally delighted: “Apollo Hotels & Resorts has built up an impressive enterprise in a short space of time; a strong commercial organisation. I’m convinced the Holiday Inn IJmuiden Seaport Beach will only benefit from this”.

Holiday Inn IJmuiden Seaport Beach was built in 1999 and boasts 146 comfortable rooms, 13 banqueting and conference rooms with a capacity of 1000 people, two restaurants, a bar, sauna, gym, unique team tower, and a stylish beach pavilion.

“The acquisition seamlessly fits into our desire in providing an optimum range of quality hotels and resorts in the Netherlands. With Holiday Inn IJmuiden Seaport Beach we can provide our contacts with a unique destination for multi-day meetings, team building sessions and international events”, says Kluit.

The hotel is to be run by Scandic Hotels until the end of 2009. The option of early procuration on the part of Apollo Hotels & Resorts is to be further examined in detail. The takeover shall not affect job opportunities. All staff are to retain their contracts and terms of employment. The Holiday Inn brand shall continue as the franchise name.
